1080p rear projection TV
1080p rear projection televisions are perfect for those who want the biggest possible
TV screen size they can buy for the least amount of money, don't need to mount it on the wall
(rear projection TVs are too bulky to be mounted on the wall), or just don't
want to pay the price premium for a comparably sized flat panel 1080p plasma TV or 1080p LCD TV.
If you'd like a diagonal screen size larger than 73 inches and have a large
enough room with minimal ambient lighting, you may want to consider setting up a 1080p front projector and projection screen. |
After conventional CRT rear projection TVs, there were 3 newer technologies used in the manufacture of rear projection HD TVs and front projectors -- DLP, LCD, and LCOS. All three projection technologies are still being used for making 1080p home theater front projectors, but only one of them still remains in use for
manufacturing rear projection 1080p TVs -- DLP.
The Samsung 61" and Mitsubishi 65" 1080p high definition DLP rear projection televisions pictured
below both utilize Digital Light Processing Chip technology invented by Texas Instruments. |
